RedBird Farms Teriyaki Chicken That Goes the Distance this Football Season

I have always loved watching football and secretly used to wish I could play quarterback. As a girl that wasn't really an option, but I could still throw a mean spiral. I grew up sitting on the cold metal bleachers in Ball State University's football stadium watching my grandfather coach the Cardinals football team and listening to my dad doing the color analyst on the radio.
When we left Indiana for the Rocky Mountains, it was the beginning of the Elway Era and the beginning of my love of the Denver Broncos. I was there through the good, bad and good again seasons. My love for #7 remains in tact and my love of the Broncos is my longest running relationship to date.
I have decades of loving football and decades of loving getting together with friends and watching football and eating. I have a lot of favorite football foods and one of my favorites is chicken wings. Although I love a good spicy wing, my stomach prefers something sweeter and more mild these days. Hence my RedBird Farms teriyaki wings and frenched drumsticks! The RedBird Farms Teriyaki Chicken comes with a handy teriyaki sauce packet and for those looking for a gluten free option, I'll teach you how to make a delicious gluten and dairy free teriyaki sauce at home in my latest video. Plus, you can make the gluten free teriyaki sauce ahead of time and even freeze it - so go ahead and make a double batch!
As always, thank you for following me and if you would be so kind, please subscribe and follow my latest YouTube channel. It's a labor of love and one that I hope will help everyone who is on a gluten free journey. xox

1
Broil for extra crispy wings
If you want even crispier wings, move the pan to the medium rack of oven and broil for the last couple of minutes. They brown quickly, so keep an eye on the wings. Flip to crisp both sides.
2
Swap out tamari if watching sodium
Despite using a low-sodium tamari, the sodium content is still high. Swap out coconut aminos which have a much lower sodium content than tamari.
3
All-natural chicken
Here in Colorado, I use RedBird Farms All-Natural chicken. It's fresh and natural and has great flavor! Use a high quality similar chicken if RedBird Farms isn't available where you are located.
4
Add teriyaki sauce during final minutes
Teriyaki sauce will carmelize when you add it to the chicken. If you add it too early it will burn, which is why I recommend basting with it the last 15 - 20 minutes.
Notes

1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Line cookie sheet with foil, place wire rack inside of cookie sheet. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Spray front and back of wire rack.
Pat dry RedBird Farms chicken and place in large bowl. In bowl with chicken, toss with baking powder and small amount of salt and pepper.
Bake 45-60 minutes depending on size of RedBird Farms chicken wings. Turn every 20 minutes. During last 20 minutes, coat with teriyaki sauce - making sure to coat both sides and turn after 10 minutes.

2
If cooking RedBird Farms frenched drumsticks, preheat skillet on stovetop to medium to medium high heat. As pan is warming up, toss chicken drumsticks with baking powder and small amount of salt and pepper. Once evenly coated put into hot pan with 1 Tablespoon of oil and cook 5-7 minutes a side, flipping when skin looks light brown and crunchy. Skin should be brown on both sides before putting in the oven and cooking another 25-30 minutes.

3
Whisk together cold water and cornstarch and set aside. In saucepan on stovetop add the cornstarch and cold water mixture. Next, add the brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and fresh ginger. Whisk all ingredients and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce temperature to simmer, while continuing to watch and whisk as needed. Teriyaki sauce will go from light brown to a darker carmel like color. The mixture will also thicken up as it darkens. Cook for around 10 - 12 minutes. Once dark brown and thick, remove from heat and stir in sesame seeds.

4
During final 20 minutes of cooking RedBird Farms chicken in the oven, baste with teriyaki on both sides using the included RedBird Farms teriyaki sauce packet or the gluten free teriyaki sauce shown in the video.
